Founded in 1901, this cultural center enriches the lives of its members and the community. The building’s facades are wonderful examples of both late Victorian architecture and neo-classical style. The building serves as both the Haskell Free Library and Haskell Opera House. Spanning two countries, much of the audience sits in the U.S. to watch a show on a stage in Canada. Nowhere else in the world can an audience enjoy a show in an opera house that is split in two by an international border. This important local institution and treasured cultural gem has been classified a historic site by Canada, the U.S., and the Province of Quebec. PERFORMING ARTS SPACES THAT INSPIRE 4
